Riyadh Cement Company received delegations from the National Center for Vegetation Cover and Combating Desertification and the National Afforestation Program, who visited to review the company’s efforts in supporting the Riyadh Green Initiative and the Crown Prince’s Afforestation Initiative, coinciding with the launch of the 2025 Afforestation Season.

The visit began with an introductory presentation on Riyadh Cement’s strategy and developmental plans in the fields of environmental sustainability and social responsibility, followed by a review of the company’s environmental governance framework designed to enhance operational efficiency and reduce environmental impact.

The delegation was then briefed on the safety systems and procedures implemented across the company’s plants, which form an integral part of Riyadh Cement’s operational approach to ensure a safe work environment aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

During a field tour, the visiting team observed Riyadh Cement’s ongoing efforts to green its facilities, including tree planting across plant corridors and green areas, reflecting the company’s commitment to maintaining balance between industrial activity and environmental preservation.

The tour also included a visit to the agricultural nursery established within the company’s premises — one of Riyadh Cement’s flagship initiatives aimed at enhancing vegetation cover, developing nurseries and environmental incubators, and contributing to community development and quality of life.

A detailed briefing was provided on local plant species suitable for industrial environments, including best practices for their care and integration with environmental sustainability standards and anti-desertification measures.

At the end of the tour, the delegations from the National Center for Vegetation Cover and Combating Desertification and the National Afforestation Program participated in planting several seedlings within Riyadh Cement’s grounds, as part of the 2025 Afforestation Season activities.

This visit underscores the synergy between the industrial and environmental sectors in advancing the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, as Riyadh Cement continues to play an active national role in expanding vegetation cover, combating desertification, and promoting sustainable development.
